In the simplest case, the track voltage is fed to the braking section before the signal via the BM1. If the signal is at "Hp 0", the BM1 will create an asymmetry in the otherwise balanced digital voltage detected by GOLD and SILVER series decoders. The result is a gentle deceleration of the train to a stop.If the train comes from the opposite direction, it simply continues, because the asymmetry is detected direction-dependent. If the signal goes back to "Hp 1", the BM1 is bridged by the signal
