Model: OO Gauge. Diesel locomotive Intercity Class 73 73235 BR.Prototype: Introduced by British Rail BR in 1963, the Class 73 is an electro-diesel ED locomotive. It operates on the 650–750 V DC network of the Southern Region and is powered by a 600 hp diesel engine. This allows it to operate on non-electrified lines, as well as in sidings and marshalling yards without a third rail. All 49 locomotives were equipped from the outset for push-pull operation with Southern Region multiple units.
