Merchant Navy Class 21C1 Channel Packet steam locomotive equipped with NEM 362 coupler pocket, double-ended couplings, and English hook couplers.Prototype: The 21C1 Channel Packet locomotive was the first of the Merchant Navy class and entered service in Salisbury in 1941 and at Exmouth Junction from 1942. Renamed 35001 by British Railways in 1948, the Channel Packet was assigned to Stewarts Lane station from 1957 until its rebuilding in 1959.

Initially designed to haul dangerous cargo such as fuel, the use of the wagons diversified as they came closer to withdrawal in the early 2000s.
